Surviving Retail: A f#%ng Nickel
So, I'm finishing up at the register as we're about to close, and a white old man asks if I can do a return for him. By this point I've done several, and had no issue with anyone... Except of course the guy who wanted to return opened pen ink. But that story has already been told. Anyway, tonight I had to ask my manager to open up the register for... a nickel. This man's bill had been $33.3 4 and he had asked for a nickel because I did not know you always had to round up for uneven change. So, when I only gave him three dimes, he responded that he was missing a nickel. To which I responded with the fact that I had already closed the register, and this man stood there and said "so, if they pay can I get my nickel?" So I answered honestly "I can try." Guess he was a fan of Nickelback.
